I toiled in the pouring rain on a steamy December morning while hiking the Waitukubuli National Trail. Upon reaching the last incline, I descended onto a log, where my guides—two young Dominicans phrazle called Dylan and Fabian—were relaxing. I had come to help, and they had come to clean the debris left behind by Hurricane Maria.
